Vesak Day 2025 (2587)

May 12

Vesak Day, also known as Buddha Purnima, is the most sacred day for Buddhists worldwide, commemorating the Three Great Events—the Birth, Supreme Enlightenment, and Mahaparinirvana of Shakyamuni Buddha. There is no place more profound to observe this auspicious occasion than Lumbini, Nepal, the hallowed site of the Buddha’s birth.

Each year, devotees, monastic communities, and Dharma practitioners from around the world gather in Lumbini to engage in meritorious activities, including ritual ceremonies, meditation, Dharma teachings, cultural performances, and the Vesak Illumination Ceremony, symbolizing the dispelling of ignorance with the light of wisdom. This sacred gathering provides a unique opportunity to cultivate Sīla (Virtue), Samādhi (Concentration), and Prajñā (Wisdom) while fostering harmony and compassion for the well-being of all sentient beings.
